Measuring Diaspora Readiness Across Finance, Climate, and Technology Transfer
Diaspora Country Index (DCI) assesses the policies, institutions, and networks supporting diaspora participation in national development. Our indices help governments, researchers, diaspora organizations, and development partners identify strengths, examine gaps, and inform engagement priorities.
Our research begins in Africa, within a wider Global South mission.
Diaspora Bond Readiness Index (DBRI)
Assessing the foundations for diaspora participation in development finance.
DBRI examines diaspora engagement policy, sovereign credit ratings, and remittances as a percentage of GDP. The index provides a starting point for discussions about diaspora bond readiness and the conditions requiring further assessment.
Diaspora Climate Readiness Index (DCRI)
Assessing the foundations for diaspora participation in climate action.
DCRI examines policies, institutions, expertise networks, research partnerships, and diaspora-supported climate initiatives. The index identifies documented channels for diaspora contributions to climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation.
Diaspora Technology Transfer Readiness Index (DTRI)
Assessing the foundations for diaspora participation in technology transfer.
DTRI examines readiness to connect diaspora knowledge, skills, and professional networks with domestic technology development and adoption. Its focus includes pathways linking research and innovation to commercialization, manufacturing capabilities, and workforce development.
The index informs discussions about how countries prepare to absorb and apply diaspora expertise in support of productivity, export readiness, and job creation.
Using Our Indices
Explore country findings, compare indicator profiles, and review the supporting evidence and methodology. Use the results to identify questions for further research, policy dialogue, and partnership development.
Each index measures a different dimension of readiness. Scores should be interpreted within the relevant framework and should not be combined into an overall country score.
From Research to Action
Our indices provide the research foundation for case studies, policy dialogue, and planned practical frameworks. DCI seeks research and funding partners to help translate identified gaps into guidance for stronger diaspora engagement.
Understanding the Results
Readiness scores reflect selected conditions supported by available evidence. They do not establish implementation quality, predict investment performance, or demonstrate climate, innovation, or employment outcomes. Limited public documentation does not necessarily mean an activity is absent.
